How alive is your faith?

We all know what faith is, we all practice some type of faith, but my question for you today is, how alive is your faith? For many years I was drug into church, and for many years I merely went through the motions of being a participant of the service. I consider these times to be when my faith lay dormant, wrapped up in what I was being told to do, how to live and what I could not or should not do (with major emphasis on what I should not do).
When I think back about these times, that I realize that my faith was not dormant in the purest sense of the word. Rather it was silenced, buried under the canon and laws of the church I attended. Buried under the rhetoric and over exaugurated acts of piety and religious practices.
It is only recently that I discovered, that faith is something that is alive, it is something that grows with me, with us. It is something that should be joyful! it is something that should be uplifting and most of all, ever evolving as we deepen our relationship with God and Christ.
Think about your own experiences, is your faith alive and growing with you? Is it something that evolves as you become close to Christ and the joy He gives us? Is your faith dynamic? Does it change and grow with your understanding of God and his Son? Is it something that you show others in your way of living the gospels? Let me be clear at this point, I am not talking about religion, I am not speaking at a denominational level, I am talking about our personal journeys with Christ, and our relationship with God. Aside from any denominational constrains how do you see your faith? Do you feel the need to spend more time working at it, or do you feel what you learn and hear on Sunday is enough to continue to nurture your relationship?
I personally have found that my relationship is one that I work on every day, just as any relationship, it takes work to know and understand Jesus, it takes time to learn and apply what you learn into your life, and it takes a commitment to work at your faith, it takes dedication to follow the path we have been given and it takes time to understand just how alive your faith truly is.
How alive is your faith?
